in and out of the studio...

march of 1,000 broken hearts (briefly known as pop & son, inc.) has begun their much anticipated debut, laying tracks for the first single "sonicpsycho". this experimental/noise duo recently played their first live show in wilmington, n.c., (see it on youtube here and here). they showed up without any cd's to pass out and they vow to not let that happen again! you have been warned.

we loaded up the truck and moved to palm bay where we did some alan lomax-esque field recordings of the metis group shadow band-wolf clan, who just released their first cd from these sessions. the group, comprised of 13+ members, all play and sing around one large drum (named grandmother)...it was such a great joy to be part of this, i'm so thankful for the experience.

our film/video arm (a1a film co.) directed and produced the music video, "fear", for angels of nightfall. me and the boys (along with tyg productions) got together and made it over the course of a few daze. the band plans to use the video to show to some interested labels. if that don't work look to see it posted on your favorite d.i.y. outlets, like youtube and myspace, and here in the near future.

twilight on the trail was in from boston, by way of fort pierce, finishing up 3 tracks from late last winter.
expect to hear from this entity soon...tasty!

and finally...ebenezer has just finished a holiday song along with a video...done in lo-fi fashion as always...see it here soon.

- much love and peace, michael

some say nepotism, i say boy band.
either way you slice it, the bottom line is that i have joined musical forces with me boy to form pop & son, inc.

that's right, we will be bringing our brand of nubile noise to the juggling gypsy in wilmington, nc. on october 13th. that's a saturday. we are on the bill with 4 other acts, so come enjoy the musical variety put together by the fine folk at 910 noise.

hello all and happy new one.
i'm looking to have a great year myself.

i feel sort of bad about letting the website go dormant since the tour. time sort of flew from summer's end until now. but as always, i've been keeping very busy, so i know you'll understand, right?

in the studio: i had silver tongued devil (from boston) in, recording 3 or 4 songs and i've been working on a whole new batch of ebenezer and molecule, and pop & son, inc. songs.

this year i will make more effort to spend more time in melbourne and work to place songs from the catalog into film, and produce a new ebenezer cd and maybe even a molecule recording.

in addition to new songs, i'm working on a short film from last year's indian summer tour, which features live performances, and live recordings (some featuring pony, who accompanied ebenezer for some of the dates). and if all goes well, i'll finish my full length feature script and shoot it in new england next winter.

by the way, you can read a cool article written about the tour at the new e-zine, great evolving sound.

and lastly, i plan to produce, write and direct more this year, so keep that in mind when choosing people for your next project (pretty please).

oh, one more thing... my studio, saucyland, is always open for business to innovative, interesting projects. not too loud please, i'm feeling mellow (sonically, that is).

till next time...
