written and recorded in 2002 when i was operating incognito as molecule, this cut is from the record meador, a musical journey triggered by the sudden death of my father.

"one for the dealer" is a bookend for the disc, imagining the feeling of letting go, and moving on into the next realm.

this week's serving comes to you circa 1995, when i was with a little band known as the lucky charms. we ran a spot on nantasket beach, ma called the box. this was a place where we sold used stuff like records, antiques, musical instruments, etc.. but, mostly the box was a place where we could excercise our creativity. we had art shows, musical performances, theatre, produced records (via our own label called noisy revolution) and lo-fi tv....

"elizabeth parker" was one of the many videos we made. this one was shot on super 8 with filmmaker hilary weisman (who co-produced, wrote and directed). from our dakota arts release toast, which went on to do some nice things. the song was a musical response to a local writer that could not quite understand just where we were coming from...i couldn't help it...you know how it is.

"angry man"  (mp3 - 2.9 MB)

in the spirit of free speech...
this week's song is a testament of our independence. what better day than the 4th of july.
written in about a half an hour...total stream of consciousness. lot's of fun to write, even more fun to play. recorded it in the early morning so i could hit the low notes. sorry about the dirty language...i'm going for the bar of soap as we speak.

this song was originally written and recorded in late 1999. it was included on the faux original motion picture soundtrack 1999.75 that i recorded as a response to all the pre-millennium paranoia that was taking place at the time.

working on a film in miami now, i sometimes find myself amidst the early morning quiet of a busy city asleep. i've chosen this song because it evokes that feeling of peace, while at the same time, paralleling the joy of a city right now reveling in the championship victory of its beloved heat.

this is a true ebenezer song, with all the instruments and singing performed and recorded at once.

i've been accused at times of having happy songs with desperate, painful lyrics. as they say... go with what you know.

as i was writing this, i couldn't help but feel that i was in the process of creating a broadway-style showtune. how'd i do? howdy do.

this is my first attempt at playing and recording banjo. the bass line is played on a wurlitzer electric piano i picked up at an antique store in green cove springs, florida while on location shooting the indie feature things that hang from trees. the drums are courtesy of my trusty ol' rhythm ace. and the lyrics? well, the lyrics pay homage to the hip hop aesthetic of boasting while laying down a fat beat. maybe.
